All Bets Are Off Outside of Math Class | Edutopia
I loved the concept that is discussed in this article. I think it is so important for students to have practice solving real world problems while applying curriculum they are to master in the classroom. Students always want to know, "Why will I have to know this?" and I find that these real world situations increase student engagement by huge amounts. Student by in is huge with projects like these, and it provides excellent opportunity for evaluation of student mastery as well.
Somehow I missed reading this article. Thanks for sharing. My wife (who is also a teacher and a Master Economics Teacher for the state of Arkansas) was really interested it as well. She said it gave her several great ideas to develop a curriculum for her third thru six grade classes.
